My mentor and teacher, John F. Barnes, PT, is an International lecturer an authority on MFR and a therapeutic "icon". He is considered to be a teacher of the highest caliber. He has been teaching MFR seminars for over 50 years and has trained over 100,000 therapists. MFR is considered to be the ultimate mind/body therapy that is safe, gentle and consistently effective in producing results that last.
Fascia is connective tissue that runs head to toes without interruption. Fascia surrounds nerves and blood vessels, spinal cord all the way down to the cellular level. X-Rays, CAT scans, ultrasound and MRIs do not show myofascial restrictions in the tissues. When the fascia is compressed it can cause over 1000 pounds of crushing pressure per square inch pressing on sensitive structures like nerves, blood vessels and organs. Myofascial Release is a gentle moderate, sustained hold into the tissues for a timed release. It's like taking the cover off a pressure cooker to relieve pain and symptoms for long lasting relief.
Why do I need MFR and what should I expect in a session?
MFR is for you if:
A myofascial therapist will scan the whole body for restrictions and assess for postural dysfunction and balance the pelvis if necessary.. After examination of skin and tissue integrity the skilled hands of the therapist will apply light to moderate timed pressure into the fascia and wait for a release. "This is not a massage" The therapist will repeat this timed pressure into various areas of fascia until each restriction has released enabling muscles to stretch and elongate promoting a lasting effect.
Let a horse whisper in your ear and breathe on your heart. You'll never regret it. Horse assisted therapy in the paddock can be life changing. Horses are sensitive to your energy and read the subtleties in our energetic emotional field. They sense if you are fearful, happy or sad. One or more horses can willfully assist the therapist by holding space for a client and waiting for a healing to occur. Because of this exchange of energy, in return the horses receive treatment as well.
If you are living with chronic pain, we recommend having treatments close together.
